Redskins Sign Phillip Buchanon

Today, the Redskins did address some help at the cornerback position by signing free agent veteran Phillip Buchanon to a one year deal. Buchanon will probably start behind Carlos Rogers and De-Angelo Hall. Buchanon also played last season with Detroit and his signing with the Redskins is his fifth team in seven seasons.

This signing is not bad for the Redskins. It is a low cost and low risk signing since its a one year deal. They had a ton of injuries at the cornerback position last season and it had inconsistent play. Adding Buchanon can help this team in some coverage schemes and add a veteran presence. Shanahan did say that every spot is open right???

Anyway, back to Buchanon. He's not a explosive corner who can change the game like Ed Reed, but he does enough to create turnovers for the defense. Also, Buchanon is familar with GM Bruce Allen from his days with the Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In fact Buchanon best seasons were with the Raiders from 2001-2003, but somewhat struggled afterward.

So what you think about adding Phillip Buchanon?? Did the Redskins help themselves with this signing?? Or they added another washed up player to their roster??
