Week 3 preview vs the Lions

Well this has been a week filled of drama for everyone in the Redskin organization. Jim Zorn being questioned about his job security, fans are frustrated, and the players are taking heat as well. Even Clinton Portis stating that everyone including Daniel Snyder is on the hot seat!!!!! OUCH!!!

With all of this drama, the Redskins face a must win situation this Sunday in the Motor City. They face a Detroit Lions team that has lost 19 straight games, but they have been averaging more points then the Redskins this season. They have a brighter future then the Redskins with rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford at the helm, a young coach in Jim Schwartz, and Calvin Johnson, probably the best wide receiver in the league.

The Redskins offense has not been in sync during the first two games. So you would think the offense will finally come together and get points on the board vs the Lions right? Well, after scoring only nine points last week to the Rams, the offense seems to be getting worse every week.

As far as injuries go, Randy Thomas is done for the year, so backup Chad Rinehart will start at right guard. Jason Campbell has been bothered from a ankle injury he suffered last week against the Rams, but he will be ready to go.

Clinton Portis did not practice due to a soar ankle and he is questionable for Sunday's game. That's bad news for the Redskins. The offense seems to do well when Portis rushes at least over 100 yards and this week would be the perfect opportunity for Portis to do it against the lions. With his minor injury, look for Ladell Betts more often in the backfield then Portis. Then again, Portis is a competitor and he is likely to start despite his injury.

Also, look for wide receiver Santana Moss should have a big game. Moss has only five catches for 41 yards during the first two games. That could easily change this Sunday, and if last season game versus the lions is any indication, Moss will break out his early season slump in an explosive way.

Prediction: This game will once again come down to the offense. The Redskins have a very good defense that can easily keep us in games, while the lions have struggled on defense all season. I know its the lions, but they score more points then the Redskins, and they might be a better team then the Redskins. But the lions defense is awful, so maybe the Redskins offense finally puts it all together now. If not, then Jim Zorn could receive a pink slip from Daniel Snyder on Monday, and the fans will finally quit on this team. If the Redskins wants to have confidence from the fans, they need to score at least 30 points. That won't happen this Sunday.
