Everyone should relax on Chase Dainel

Over the past few days, Redskins fans have jump on the Chase Daniel train after his stellar performance last week versus Pittsburgh, similar to what occurred last for Colt Brennan. Some fans think that Daniel should be the starter. While fans should be excited for Daniel, its only one preseason game, and he is still competing for the third QB spot, and it won't be assured until the preseason. It is also very obvious that Redskins fans loves quarterback controversy, even a battle for the 3rd string QB, which is pathetic. So everyone should relax on Daniel because there is still a possibility that him, or Brennan might not make the team.

According to John Keim of the Washington Examiner, For Brennan, his poor selections to throw into coverage, including an interception when the skins were inside the Steelers 20, could easily cost him his job. Despite his mediocre stats, Brennan is improving this year due to his pocket presence.

However, Chase Daniel size might not be in his favor at all. To be an NFL quarterback, you must be at least 6 feet tall or more. While Daniel lead a productive drive, and throwing safe passes throughout the game, he would not see the big passing routes plays due to his height. Unfortunately, Daniel is not Doug Flutie in any form to scramble around the pocket with his size.

The final two preseason games will determined both of these quarterbacks faith. Todd Collins is already the No.2 QB to backup Jason Campbell. It is still a wide open competion for the 3rd QB slot despite Daniel performance. Right now however, its favors Daniel, but that can change very quickly.
