Campbell sllience his critcs for one game

Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell and the offense finally responded on Friday night with two touchdown drives that included a 73 yard pass to tight end Chris Cooley, and rushing TD. Campbell finished 13 of 22 with 209 yards passing, a rushing TD, and zero interceptions. While Campbell overthrew some of his passes, he couldn't ask for a better performance in the critical thrid preseason game.

The defense however struggled as expected versus the Patriots. Tom Brady kept the defense guessing with his audibles, and ended up throwing two touchdowns passes to Randy Moss. Then late in the 2nd quarter, Brady suffered a sore shoulder when he took a big hit from Albert Haynesworth. Brady left the game early, and finished 12 for 19 with 150 yards. If Brady stays healthy this season, the Patriots will be Super Bowl contenders again. The Defense then settle down throughout the rest of the game, not allowing a touchdown in the 2nd half and providing two interceptions from Laron Laundry and rookie corner Kevin Barnes.

The only negative from Friday Night was penalties. The Redskins were penalized 15 times for 113 yards, and most of the penalties were committed on the starters on both sides of the ball and special teams. That will not win most ball games in any league, so look for Coach Zorn to discipline his team further as the team prepares for the season opener two weeks from today vs the New York Giants.

As for Colt Brennan, he had a mixed performance. First he could not take advantage of Laundry's interception by throwing a interception to Johnathan Wilhite, taking it 99 yards for a touchdown. Brennan then redeem himself by throwing a 33 yard touchdown pass to rookie wide out Marko Mitchell, his second TD reception of the preseason. Brennan, along with Chase Daniel have one more game to prove to the coaching staff they should be the third string QB. Expect a lot of playing for both of these quarterbacks this Thursday night in Jacksonville.

Next Game: at Jacksonville Jaguars: 7:30pm
The most meaningless preseason game of the year, expect the starters to play a series, or not play at all. This game is mostly for the players fighting to stay on the 53 man roster. So for Chase Daniel, Colt Brennan, and the rest of the undrafted free agents, this game is essentially their super bowl for them.
